Setup:

  1. Caribbean Stud is typically played with a standard deck of 52 playing cards.
  2. The game is played against the dealer, rather than against other players.
  3. Each player must place an initial bet to participate in the game.

Gameplay:

  1. Each player places their initial bet on the designated betting spot on the table.
  2. The dealer then deals each player and themselves five cards, all facing down, except for one dealer’s card facing up.
  3. After looking at their own cards, players are not allowed to share information about their hand with other players.
  4. Based on their hand’s strength and assessment of the dealer’s face-up card, each player has two options: a. Fold: If the player believes their hand is weak and they don’t want to continue, they can fold and forfeit their initial bet. b. Call: If the player wants to continue and challenge the dealer’s hand, they must place an additional bet, usually double the initial bet.
  5. After all players have made their decision to fold or call, the dealer reveals their remaining four cards.
  6. The dealer must have an Ace-King or higher ranked hand to qualify. If the dealer does not qualify, players who called receive even money on their initial bet, and their additional bet is returned as a push.
  7. If the dealer qualifies, the player’s hand is compared to the dealer’s hand.
  8. If the player has a higher-ranked hand than the dealer, they win even money on their initial bet, and the additional bet pays according to a predetermined payout table (usually starting from 1:1 for a pair and going up to 100:1 for a Royal Flush).
  9. If the dealer has a higher-ranked hand than the player, the player loses both their initial bet and additional bet.
  10. In the case of a tie (push), both the initial bet and additional bet are returned to the player.
  11. The game progresses to the next round, and players can place new bets to continue playing.

Tips:

  • Familiarize yourself with the ranking of poker hands to understand the strength of your hand compared to the dealer’s.
  • Assess the dealer’s face-up card to make an informed decision on whether to fold or call.
  • Consider the potential payouts for different hands when deciding whether to place the additional bet.
  • Manage your bankroll and bet responsibly, taking into account your available funds and risk tolerance.
